Stilka-Buró

SYNTHESIS AND AVANT-GARDE

Since its foundation as a benchmark company for modern design, Stilka-Buró (Buenos Aires, 1960-1964), stood out for its focus on aesthetic and functional innovation. Originally focused on home and office furniture, from 1964 the firm split into Stilka (for home) and Buró (for office).

The technical team of Stilka was formed by Celina Castro, later with the collaboration of Ricardo Blanco. In the case of Buró, it was directed by Reinaldo Leiro and included the participation of Arnoldo Gaite and Osvaldo Fauci, among others.

Buró developed systems of pieces with an international language, such as the Rolo line of armchairs with a chrome steel structure and cylindrical foam cushions.

The legacy of Stika-Buró (and independently Stilka and Buró) is characterized by a formal synthesis that integrates knowledge of technology, ergonomics, and trends. It was recognized with multiple distinctions from the Industrial Design Research Center (CIDI) and its works are part of the Permanent Design Collection of the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires and also integrate the collection of the IDA Foundation.
