Hiperpintura

Hiperpintura is an experimental furniture collection. Each piece is crafted with successive layers of thermoconvertible powder coating applied to a metal frame.

A robot applied hundreds of continuous layers over three months, creating a volume where the paint transforms from a mere finish into a standalone material, moldable and machinable.

These pieces sit at the crossroads of sculpture and furniture, merging heavy industrial production with artisanal craftsmanship, balancing productive time with extended time.

“Shifting the lines between unique and serial objects, between production and excess, between planning and accident, between design and art.”

Federica Baeza writes - Picture the bark of a tree encroaching on the intricate patterns of a sidewalk trash can. The gray tones of a sycamore tree slowly absorb the ironwork, creating a merging zone shaped by the passage of time. As long as the tree lives, this form continues to evolve. This image encapsulates the blend of planning, accident, and the slow, natural process that unfolds beyond our immediate perception.

What we see is the outcome of a fortuitous event that remains open-ended. It’s akin to a buoy washed ashore, initially designed for a specific purpose but altered by its environment. Barnacles and algae cling to it, while the sun and saltwater erode its form, texture, and color. This current state reveals an intriguing reversal of the original design intent.

This image of the tree bark was one of the first inspirations for Grupo Bondi in the late 2000s. It’s compelling because it embodies the paradox of extended time and the opposite of deliberate design. It highlights what happens naturally, without direction—a true event, a sort of anomaly.

Grupo Bondi

Grupo Bondi

Grupo Bondi is a leading name in experimental design in Argentina.

Based in Buenos Aires, this studio-workshop has been led by industrial designers Iván López Prystajko and Eugenio Gómez Llambí since 2008. Their works challenge the superficial and immediate consumption of design, sparking controversy and richness in the debate.

They design and produce by tapping into the poetic essence of everyday objects. Consumer products become their canvas: instead of writing a song or painting a picture, they create furniture. Grupo Bondi revisits Borges’ literary question: how to navigate the cultural mainstream from the periphery? They turn the marginal into an aesthetic, a poetic, a form, a product.
